You may have heard of the term “Mini-Session” before, but what does it even mean?
Let's take a few minutes to break down just what exactly a Mini-Session encapsulates.
However, before we go on to discuss what a Mini-Session is, we need to clarify what it isn’t.
Contrary to popular belief, a Mini Session is not a discounted photo session, nor is it an excuse for the photographer to not give the client their all.
So, what then is a Mini-Session?
Simply put: these concise sessions are faithful to their namesake. They are simply shorter versions of a traditional photo session. While a regular session might average an hour, a Mini-Session may be as brief as 20 minutes. Mini-Sessions tend to be themed and in many cases are only offered during specific seasons (holidays, birthdays, etc....).
These bite sized sessions are a unique way for photographers to engage with clients and capture unforgettable moments in a condensed time.
So, now that you know what they are and what they aren't, you might be wondering how they benefit you as the client.

Mini -Sessions are a great way for a client to get to know a photographer and their work. It's a way for the client to become familiar with the photographer's style and approach. This first-person experience allows clients to determine whether they would like to seek additional work from the photographer.
While Mini Sessions are traditionally no less costly than a full session, they often include one or two digital copies of your photos, with, of course, the option to purchase more, should the client desire to.
Another plus with a Mini-Session is that the photographer will already have a set location, props and even occasionally clothing, which removes any potential stress from the client.
On top of the already listed benefits, the shorter time frame of a Mini Session also makes it easier for those whose schedules are already full of all that life can throw at us.
These brief sessions are traditionally booked months in advance, which allows the client plenty of time to add to their schedule.
